Best of Wirex Card

Practical strengths

  • EUR and SEPA accounts help separate spending funds.
  • Virtual and physical cards with distinct numbers in the app.

Areas to improve

Costs and limitations

  • Crypto exchange cost needs assessing separately from card use.
  • WXT plans and limits complicate comparisons based on advertised rates.

How Wirex Card works with euros and crypto

Wirex Card lets you use Wirex account balances for purchases and cash withdrawals, with virtual and physical formats where available. Its practical appeal is the connection between accounts, conversion and the card: you can prepare a spending balance and review the payment within one app.

This review uses the EEA’s euro pricing as its reference. The UK, Australia and other programmes have separate terms. An ATM allowance in another currency does not necessarily have the same value. Card payments and the account’s crypto exchange service are also different operations.

Linked accounts and two card formats

The app supports a virtual and a physical card with distinct card numbers. Virtual is useful online, while physical adds plastic-card use and compatible ATMs. Once activated, the documented setup requires linked accounts and at least one fiat account.

Review which balance will fund a payment before paying. Holding crypto at Wirex does not remove conversion into the currency needed to settle a euro purchase. Preparing EUR in advance separates the asset conversion decision from checkout, making it easier to compare the rate against planned spending.

Card availability, format and network depend on the programme. European documentation covers Mastercard while other flows describe Visa. For example, setting a PIN during activation is specifically described for Visa; it should not be presented as identical for every Wirex card.

Wirex Card fees in the EEA

The card schedule lists free issuance, €5 standard EEA delivery and €15 DHL Express delivery. Wirex charges no own ATM fee up to €200 monthly, then 2%. An ATM owner’s charge is separate. Ordering a card and selecting tracked delivery are distinct cost decisions.

Crypto exchange quotes can include costs separate from card fees. The EEA service’s transparency disclosure distinguishes stablecoin exchanges at a 0% trading fee from BTC and ETH at 1.5%. An executable quote includes other price components, so a 0% fee does not mean every exchange is spread-free.

For a EUR purchase funded with EUR, do not mechanically add a trading charge unrelated to that payment. For spending funded with another asset, review the quote and account being debited. Nor should the price of an X-tras plan be treated as compulsory for every user.

SEPA funding and withdrawing euros to a bank

For users with an available EUR account and activated SEPA details, Wirex lists SEPA transfers without an own fee. The funding flow exposes details through Cash In → EUR and bank transfer. Check the beneficiary and account details before sending; a linked card does not replace correctly addressing a transfer.

To withdraw, the flow is Accounts → EUR → Send followed by the required bank details. This helps separate your card budget from money you want to return to a bank. External crypto withdrawals carry variable network costs and should be assessed separately.

Cryptoback, WXT and X-tras plans

Cryptoback rewards eligible purchases and credits WXT to the X-tras account. Rates and limits depend on the plan and applicable terms. Standard, Premium and Elite are different levels, and a temporary reward boost does not establish a permanent return.

Cash withdrawals, transfers, certain crypto purchases and cancelled or refunded payments do not qualify for rewards. WXT’s euro value can move. To assess a higher plan, compare its cost with rewards on your usual purchases rather than including spending you would not otherwise make.

Who Wirex may suit and alternatives to compare

Wirex may appeal if you want a euro account, transfers and a card in one app, using EEA terms as your reference. Evaluating total cost becomes less straightforward when crypto exchange and reward plans are involved. Free issuance alone does not settle the comparison.

The EEA service also publishes an inactivity fee after nine months without qualifying activity: 0.75% of the month-end balance, with a €5 minimum and capped at available funds. This is different from a routine monthly card fee but matters if you plan to leave the account unused.

Follow the Wirex Card application guide or compare ether.fi Cash, which separates spending a balance from borrowing. RedotPay provides another issuance and conversion model, while Bybit Card is relevant if you already keep funds at Bybit.

Who may find it suitable?

Wirex Card combines card spending, currency accounts and crypto conversion. Its value depends on funding choices and reward plans, with European costs distinct from other programmes.

Our review of Wirex Card

Wirex is worth comparing if you want a EUR account that also funds a card. Preparing a spending balance helps control costs. To choose an X-tras plan, use normal eligible spending and deduct its price rather than automatically valuing the highest advertised rate.

Frequently asked questions

Is every Wirex card Visa?

No. The European programme includes Mastercard and other flows describe Visa. Check the network of the card offered.

Is Cryptoback paid in euros?

The described programme credits WXT in X-tras. Its euro value depends on the token and conversion timing.

Is the €200 ATM allowance a spending limit?

No. It is the EEA monthly band without Wirex’s own ATM fee. Withdrawal limits and operator charges are separate.
