Confusing delivery and issuance
Free issuance does not mean Express is free.
Crypto cards
Use the application flow for your Wirex Card programme and prepare the balance before paying. This guide separates account verification, card issuance and the setup needed for a first purchase.
Wirex lets you set up the card and linked accounts separately. Choose the format, review delivery and prepare EUR funding before using it.
Begin by checking which card and programme Wirex offers for your residence.
You will need access to email and phone, an accepted document and current personal details. The European product has its own terms; UK or Australian terms do not establish availability for your account. Decide whether you need virtual, physical or both before paying delivery.
Keep a card budget separate from money you intend to invest. For euro purchases, decide whether to fund with EUR or exchange another asset first. Holding crypto and having a balance linked to a card are different checks.
In Wirex registration, select residence, email and password, then follow account confirmation.
Complete details as shown on your ID and use the mobile app for document upload and the selfie. Select the document type you will actually photograph. Choosing driving licence and uploading a passport prevents the system from treating it as the selected document.
Photograph the original legibly and follow the selfie framing. Check progress in Profile → Verification when needed. Images of copies or documents displayed on another screen can be rejected. Fix the specific issue before resubmitting.
Open Cards in the app and choose Virtual in the carousel.
Select Get Virtual Card and review the card terms. If funding is requested, check the amount displayed for your region before continuing. An issued virtual card has its own details for online payments. Having a physical card does not make the two card numbers identical.
Before shopping, check linked accounts and the spending balance. This avoids confusing an asset held in Wirex with the one used for payment. For a subscription, note which virtual card you used: replacing it may require updating the merchant’s saved details.
In Cards, choose Physical and Get Physical Card.
Review terms, enter your address and choose an available delivery method. The EEA schedule lists €5 standard delivery without tracking and €15 tracked DHL Express. Available options and the final price appear before confirmation.
Choose the account that will pay delivery and check details before placing the order. Wirex’s ordering guide permits one active physical card at a time. A negative card balance or insufficient funds can prevent ordering. Resolve that state rather than submitting the order repeatedly.
Once you have the plastic, return to Cards and select the received card.
Choose Activate and confirm receipt. Enter the details requested and check that they belong to the physical card in hand. For Visa, the guide includes setting a PIN and making a successful chip-and-PIN transaction before contactless use. Do not assume every Mastercard has that same step.
Link the accounts you will use: the help guide requires at least one fiat account. Check the order and balance funding a purchase. If a terminal requests insertion rather than tapping, follow it and enter the PIN privately.
If EUR and activated SEPA details are available, find the transfer information through Cash In.
Select EUR and Regular Bank Transfer to view the bank details. Confirm beneficiary and instructions before transferring from your bank. Check that Wirex has credited it before attempting to spend the amount. The schedule lists no own SEPA fee; funding with another card has separate terms.
When funding from crypto, compare the total executable quote rather than a single fee. Account exchange and card usage are different costs. To return euros to a bank, the published route begins Accounts → EUR → Send. The euro withdrawal guide explains checks for a bank transfer out.
Open X-tras to inspect rewards actually credited to the account.
Cryptoback pays WXT on eligible purchases and depends on your plan. Compare its value and limits with the plan cost. A higher rate advertised for a campaign or paid plan does not automatically apply to a Standard account.
ATMs and transfers do not earn the same reward as an eligible purchase, and refunds may reverse rewards. Review conversion, delivery and ATM fees alongside subscription costs before assessing the outcome. The Wirex Card review brings that comparison together, while ether.fi Cash offers a different funding approach.
Review these points before taking the next step.
Small checks for a more considered decision.
Free issuance does not mean Express is free.
Compare its price with real spending and limits.
Check linked accounts before a purchase.
Wirex’s guide allows both with distinct numbers, subject to regional availability.
The published first chip-and-PIN purchase instruction is for Visa. Follow the instructions for your card’s network and programme.
