Jupiter review

Jupiter is a starting point for finding swap routes on Solana. Spot aggregation sits beside scheduled orders and perpetuals, each with different pricing. Begin by deciding whether you want tokens in a wallet or an ongoing position.

Best of Jupiter

Several execution methods within the Solana ecosystem.

  • Ultra finds routes and shows platform fees before signing.
  • Manual market has no Jupiter fee, with network costs separate.
  • Limit and DCA orders support other execution schedules.

Areas to improve

Additional products have their own cost structures.

  • Ultra can charge 0.5% for tokens under 24 hours old.
  • JLP Perps charges 0.06% at both entry and exit, plus variables.
  • Web, mobile and order-version pricing cannot be interchanged.

When Jupiter helps

Jupiter suits a Solana wallet user seeking a route without manually inspecting every underlying pool. Aggregation finds execution for a requested size. The useful result is final output across the whole route, rather than one platform percentage.

Scheduled orders, perpetual positions and JLP liquidity serve different goals. You do not need all three to use swaps. The spot and futures guide separates receiving assets from collateralised exposure.

Review product terms and risks before trading.

Ultra and Manual swap routes

Ultra is the documented default spot method, applying a platform fee by pair category and displaying it before signature. Underlying pool charges should not be mislabelled as Jupiter’s own fee.

Manual market has no Jupiter commission, but Solana gas and an optional Jito tip remain. Zero platform fee does not eliminate route costs or guarantee the best output. Compare the same size and assets across methods.

Ultra categories include zero for SOL/stable into JUP, JLP or jupSOL, LST/LST and stable/stable. SOL/stable is 0.02%, LST/stable 0.05%, other swaps 0.1%, and tokens under 24 hours old can cost 0.5%. A favourable category cannot be extended to every asset.

Spot and scheduled-order examples

On hypothetical notional of 1,000 units, 0.02% is 0.20, 0.05% is 0.50, 0.1% is 1 and 0.5% is 5 units. These isolate platform charges rather than establish output after route prices and costs.

Limit and DCA versions differ. V1 publishes a flat 0.1%; V2 has a 0.03%–0.1% base plus Ultra routing fees. The order name alone does not identify the correct charge.

DCA distributes execution over time without promising a better average price. Limits can remain unfilled. Assess the function as well as the cost; the order guide explains why setting a price does not guarantee execution.

Mobile has its own schedule. These figures describe identified web products, not every screen bearing the brand. Optional tips should not be treated as compulsory across all swaps.

Fees by product
Product or movementPublished terms
Ultra: SOL/stable into JUP/JLP/jupSOL; LST/LST or stable/stable0% platform fee in documented categories.
Ultra: SOL/stable; LST/stable0.02% and 0.05%, respectively.
Ultra: other swaps; tokens under 24h old0.1% and 0.5%, respectively; inspect the quote.
Manual market0% Jupiter fee; Solana gas and optional Jito tip separate.
Limit/DCA V1 versus V2V1: 0.1%; V2: 0.03%–0.1% base plus Ultra route fee.
JLP Perps0.06% at entry and exit, plus impact and borrowing.
JLP mint/burn0.20% base, adjusted by pool weights.

JLP perpetuals are not spot aggregation

JLP Perps positions use pool markets including SOL, ETH and wBTC in the researched terms. Base execution is 0.06% of size at entry and again at exit. On hypothetical USD 1,000 notional, that is USD 0.60 each way or USD 1.20 round trip if size stays equal.

Price impact depends on size and recent imbalance, including an additive component when a trade increases imbalance. This is neither an Ultra fee nor a fixed percentage for every order.

Borrowing accrues hourly on the full position size according to utilisation, not merely the collateral supplied. Leveraged notional can exceed deposited capital, making that calculation base important over longer holding periods.

Beta markets instead use order maker/taker and hourly funding. Do not copy the JLP 0.06% rate or treat borrowing as identical funding. The funding guide explains the general distinction without inventing a fixed rate.

Solana funds and position collateral

For spot, connect a Solana wallet and prepare input assets plus network-cost balance. Choose output and size, inspect the final route, then sign. Funds on another blockchain need a separate movement to Solana rather than a changed display setting.

The transfer guide helps match assets and destinations from a CEX. Compatible addresses do not establish every token representation. A mistaken funding route can outweigh small swap percentage differences.

Perps collateral is committed to a market. An internal collateral swap can add costs: documented base 0.10% for SOL, ETH or wBTC input and 0.02% stable/stable, adjusted by pool weight. This is not Ultra pricing.

JLP mint/burn has a 0.20% weight-adjusted base. Pool participation differs from an individual perpetual or simple swap. Decide what position you intend to hold and how to exit; disconnecting does not automatically free collateral or liquidity.

API methods and checking output

Developer API /order and /build differ in platform-fee policy. The latter lacks the former’s platform charge. That does not make every integrator identical to the web interface; an application can add its own workflow and terms.

For manual use, inspect the pre-signature breakdown: price, minimum received, network costs and method. A zero isolated percentage is insufficient. Deeper liquidity can offset another charge, and scheduled execution can be useful without being the cheapest method.

Wallet swaps versus committed guarantees

A spot swap returns output to the wallet, while a perpetual commits collateral until reduced or closed. Solana instructions also differ from EVM ERC-20 approvals. Inspect the actual wallet action rather than transferring another chain’s permission model blindly.

JLP liquidation can consume remaining collateral. Low entry pricing cannot summarise that risk. Size the position and guarantee before submitting; interface disconnection is not a market exit. The security guide covers recovery and access, separate from exposure management.

A direct pool or another account route

Raydium allows a more direct Solana pool comparison while Jupiter aggregates routes. For the same pair and size, evaluate output and terms rather than assuming aggregation always wins or direct execution always saves.

For bank entry, Coinbase and Kraken offer other funding workflows. For centralised derivatives tools, Bybit is another model. Jupiter is most relevant for Solana activity while keeping swaps, scheduled orders, Perps and JLP positions distinct.

Our review of Jupiter

Jupiter is particularly relevant when your assets and goal are on Solana. Compare Ultra and Manual by final output and workflow. For Perps, build a fresh budget including entry, exit, impact and borrowing; a useful spot route does not establish the cost of a derivative.

Frequently asked questions

Is a pool charge Jupiter’s fee?

Not automatically. Platform charges and route costs are different. Ultra has its own schedule; Manual has no Jupiter fee while execution and network conditions remain.

Does zero stable/stable mean no costs?

The documented Ultra zero does not eliminate gas, possible route costs or price impact. Check final output.

What does a JLP Perps round trip cost?

Base pricing is 0.06% each side on size, plus applicable impact and borrowing. Beta markets use another model.

Does this web schedule cover Mobile?

Not automatically. Documentation separates mobile pricing. Each figure here belongs to the identified web method.
