Treating the close as fixed
The internal reference can evolve during the weekend.
Using a DEX
A perpetual can move on Saturday while its reference share is not trading on its primary exchange. Understanding the price publisher and reopening mechanism matters as much as choosing a direction.

This guide focuses on trade.xyz markets deployed through HIP-3.
Hyperliquid supports perpetual markets deployed by third parties. trade.xyz offers contracts linked to shares and other underlyings on that infrastructure. Buying one does not make you a shareholder, transfer a share to your wallet or create voting rights. You hold a margined derivative with liquidation and contract-specific conditions, not a spot purchase of the listed security.
Identify the full market and its deployer rather than only the company ticker. These trade.xyz rules do not automatically describe another builder’s contracts or HIP-4 Events. An application can display several products together even when their mechanics differ. The Hyperliquid review and practical guide cover access and general position management.
External pricing coverage extends beyond ordinary exchange hours.
| Market | Reference |
|---|---|
| US stocks | External coverage Sunday 20:05 to Friday 20:00 ET, including overnight. |
| US internal session | Weekend Friday 20:00 to Sunday 20:05 ET, with holidays and exceptions. |
| Korean stocks | External coverage 09:01–15:20 and 16:05–20:00, UTC+9. |
| Korean internal | Weekend Friday 20:00 to Monday 09:01, UTC+9. |
US stock external reference pricing aggregates premarket, regular, postmarket and overnight sessions, with Blue Ocean ATS supplying overnight trading. Do not assume external oracle data stops at 16:00 ET just because regular trading closes. The August 2026 schedule update ends the weekend internal session at 20:05 on Sunday rather than 20:00.
Korean contracts convert KRW-denominated underlying prices into a USD reference, so exchange rates also affect interpretation. Their documentation additionally allows internal pricing after more than fifteen seconds without external data. Check the instrument’s holiday calendar, specification and time zone. ET follows US seasonal clock changes; it is not one fixed Spanish local time throughout the year.
The internal reference need not remain frozen at Friday’s close.
With external coverage, the relayer publishes a reference derived from those markets. Without it, internal pricing starts from the last external price and adjusts gradually using the perpetual book. It uses exponential smoothing and impact prices for a configured notional rather than treating the last small fill as the entire market’s fair value. Insufficient depth also changes the contribution of each book side.
When external inputs resume, the oracle returns to the externally derived price on the corresponding next update. Weekend trading may have anticipated news or diverged from the returning reference. Neither guarantees that the perpetual correctly predicted reopening. A discrepancy alone is not risk-free arbitrage: margin must survive and an executable exit must exist.
The last fill alone does not explain orders and liquidations.
trade.xyz Mark is a median of three components: oracle, a reference incorporating smoothed market-to-oracle basis, and a component built from bid, ask and the last trade. It is used for margin, liquidation and unrealised PnL. The last execution can differ, while your own exit also depends on book depth and order type.
Discovery bounds constrain Mark around a reference and can re-anchor when configured conditions are met. The reset allowance is market-specific: with zero resets, the bound stays static until external pricing resumes. Nor do they guarantee a leveraged position avoids liquidation or exits at your chosen price. Inspect the current contract settings instead of copying a bound from another asset. Market and limit orders separates acceptable prices from execution speed.
The following figures are hypothetical, not a quote or recommendation.
Suppose a share’s external reference ends at USD 100 and its perpetual trades at 104 on Saturday. A trader opens exposure equivalent to ten units at 104. Closing at 101 produces a USD 30 execution loss before fees and funding. It is not USD 3: notional and margin are different. Against USD 100 collateral, that loss represents 30% of collateral without a 30% underlying move.
The example does not assume you can always wait for 101. An adverse path can liquidate the position before reopening, and a market order can cross several price levels. Funding remains a separate cash flow while exposure stays open, under that contract’s rules. Do not borrow another market’s rate or treat periodic receipts as guaranteed compensation for weekend holding.
If using an additional app, include any applicable builder fees. The FOMO cost guide separates them from venue charges, while funding and total costs complete the budget. A weekend with few observed trades does not by itself establish the liquidity available for your exit.
Start with the contract and finish with your ability to manage an exit.
Equity exposure does not make every platform equivalent. Ostium uses different execution and rollover mechanisms, while Extended combines order-book trading with RWA-specific conditions. Compare the product rather than assuming a stock label implies identical hours, financing or custody. The DEX directory links their reviews.
Review these points before taking the next step.
Small checks for a more considered decision.
The internal reference can evolve during the weekend.
Korean stocks do not follow the US schedule.
The position grants no company ownership or voting rights.
No. Check builder, underlying and specification. trade.xyz examples do not establish rules for every Hyperliquid market.
The documented trade.xyz mechanism can switch to internal pricing and evolve with the book. US external coverage also includes extended sessions.
These are perpetual contracts rather than purchases with share delivery. Settlement follows the derivative’s conditions.
No. They are conditional price controls with re-anchoring, not guarantees of execution, preserved margin or protection from liquidation.
