USDT sent to Bybit EU by mistake: checks and recovery options

If you sent USDT where you intended to deposit USDC, do not make another transfer to try to correct it. First identify what the address received and what the European account supports. A matching address or ticker does not guarantee automatic crediting.

What to check first

If you sent USDT where you intended to deposit USDC, do not make another transfer to try to correct it. First identify what the address received and what the European account supports. A matching address or ticker does not guarantee automatic crediting.

1. Separate Bybit EU, token and transfer network

Start with the sender’s receipt and the original receiving details.

Bybit EU and the international service have their own catalogues and procedures. A supported route on a global account does not establish support on the European service. Identify the receiving account’s domain or product and retain its displayed deposit address. Our Bybit review separates the products; identifying the case requires neither another account nor more money.

USDT incidents are not all alike. Possibilities include the wrong asset on an intended chain, the wrong chain for a supported asset, a similarly named token, an unsupported transfer method or an outstanding account check. Use the asset and chain offered by your account’s Assets page. Spot markets and promotional pages do not replace the deposit list.

2. Inspect the TXID and asset identity

A wallet’s displayed name is insufficient to identify the transferred asset.

  • Open the sender’s withdrawal details and retain TXID, date, amount, network and recipient.
  • Inspect the transaction on that network’s explorer and distinguish failed, pending and confirmed status.
  • For contract-based tokens, inspect transfer events, contract and quantity; do not confuse contract and recipient.
  • Compare token identity with issuer information and the deposit details you generated.
  • Retain the original receiving instructions: selected coin, network and any required memo or tag.

Two tokens named USDT are not necessarily the same technical asset. USDT and USDC do not become interchangeable because an EVM address matches. An address valid on Arbitrum can be syntactically valid on another chain without Bybit EU processing both routes. An operator potentially controlling an address does not establish support or recoverability for every token sent there.

3. Classify the issue before requesting recovery

Unsupported-asset recovery is not the universal procedure for every slow deposit.

Initial check by case
CaseCheck
UnconfirmedStatus and confirmations on the correct blockchain.
SupportedAsset, chain, minimum, memo and deposit method.
UnsupportedUnsupported Coin record and official case-specific options.
VerificationHistory and requests for wallet or source identification.

If asset and chain are supported but confirmations remain outstanding, follow normal deposit status. Complete any Travel Rule or address-verification request through account history; that does not convert USDT to USDC or support an unlisted chain. Pending Assets can cover different situations, so read the movement’s stated reason rather than the word Pending alone.

Hypothetical example: a receipt confirms USDT on Arbitrum sent to an address generated for USDC. That establishes the transferred token and chain, not a recovery outcome. A USDT transfer on another chain needs its own assessment. Bybit EU crypto deposits explains correct preparation for future transactions.

4. Use Pending Assets when the option is available

Documented self-service has limited coverage and depends on the record shown in your account.

The official guide directs users to Funding Account, History and Deposit to inspect the unsupported-coin remark. An eligible case in Pending Assets can show Withdraw under Unsupported Coin. Follow that workflow only when offered, reviewing asset, chain, handling charge and external receiving address. An absent button is not necessarily a fault fixed by another request.

The destination must be outside Bybit EU and support the exact recovered asset on the same chain, including any required memo. An exchange accepting only USDC is not a suitable recipient for returned USDT. Verify receiving support before submission; blindly returning to the original sending address can also fail when it belongs to the sender’s pooled wallet.

The procedure lists handling charges in USDC that vary and appear in the relevant window, paid from Funding. Do not turn a forum figure into a fixed recovery fee. Recovery is best-effort and can fail; the guide includes non-refundable charged fees and possible processing periods, not a guaranteed deadline for every request.

5. Prepare a verifiable support request

When self-service does not cover the case, request a specific assessment through official support.

Provide a short timeline: intended asset, actually transferred asset, contract, chain, net quantity, time, address and TXID. Include the sender’s receipt and selected deposit screen while hiding unrelated information. Identify the European account and retain the case number. Ask for support and recovery assessment for that combination, rather than a generic USDT promise.

A confirmed blockchain transfer cannot be cancelled like an unfilled order. Contradictory tickets or another token sent to “activate” the account do not add support. Respond to further evidence requests within the original case and retain the response. A public transaction can be examined without your recovery phrase, private key or wallet connection to a rescue website.

6. Prepare the next deposit without repeating the mistake

Resolving an earlier case and funding a new operation are separate decisions.

For the next transfer, open the receiver’s Deposit page first, choose asset and chain, read minimum and method, and copy current details. Then configure the sender’s withdrawal. A test helps only if its net amount meets the crediting minimum. Exchange transfers and USDT networks compare both ends without assuming a ticker covers every representation.

If considering an account for future use, inspect Bybit’s products and its existing access route. Registering or following that link does not recover funds or create a special support channel. The priority remains preserving evidence and using the official response applicable to the deposit already made.

Final checklist

Review these points before taking the next step.

  • EU service identified.
  • TXID and contract verified on the right chain.
  • Original deposit instructions retained.
  • Account-specific compatibility checked.
  • Pending state and reason read.
  • Destination and cost reviewed if recovery is offered.

Common mistakes

Small checks for a more considered decision.

Trusting only the ticker

USDT, USDC and similarly named tokens are not interchangeable.

Promising technical recovery

Receiver control of an address does not establish operational recovery support for every asset.

Copying a testimonial fee

Charges and coverage must be checked for your own case.

FAQs

Does Bybit EU always return mistakenly sent USDT?

No. Official recovery is best-effort with limited asset and chain coverage. Another user’s recovery does not guarantee yours.

Can I assume all USDT is unsupported?

No. Check asset, contract, chain and method in the account and case response. Do not generalise one route’s restriction to every transfer.

What if Withdraw is absent in Pending Assets?

Self-service may not cover the case, or the status may mean something else. Retain evidence and request official assessment without inventing a recovery route.

Does Travel Rule convert USDT into USDC?

No. It verifies deposit information; it neither changes the asset nor adds technical chain support.
