Bybit EU supports an ADA purchase from a euro balance; LBank uses USDT you already hold. Kraken Pro adds a way to consider buying and Flexible staking with one provider. If you prefer delegating from your own wallet, first compare how much ADA you can withdraw over Cardano.
Compare by goalUpdated
Find your exchange
Compare products, costs and ways to move your funds.
A spot purchase delivers ADA; a price derivative cannot supply coins for delegation.
Funding money
Compare bank euros with an existing USDT balance without assigning both the same funding cost.
Control of balance
Separate exchange custody, managed staking and a wallet under your own keys.
Cost of use
Add execution and withdrawal costs; for staking, check the specific product’s fees and terms.
Buying ADA and deciding who will hold it
Two buyers can have the same Cardano budget and need different platforms. One wants to sell later on the same book; another wants to move ADA to a wallet and choose a pool. Execution pricing and funding are central to the first buyer. Native withdrawal and the usable balance on arrival also matter to the second. A third buyer may prefer exchange-managed staking, which requires comparing that programme as well as the initial purchase.
Compare before choosing
Bybit EU, Kraken Pro and Bitvavo for euro-funded ADA
All three ADA/EUR books let you buy without an intermediate stablecoin. On a hypothetical €500 fill, Bybit EU’s 0.25% and Bitvavo’s starting taker fee represent €1.25. Pro Tier 1 taker at 0.80% is €4. The €2.75 difference is only part of the comparison: include the actual asks needed to fill your order and the withdrawal charge if you intend to send it out.
If you can leave an order resting, Bitvavo’s entry maker rate is 0.15% and Kraken Pro’s is 0.40%. Choosing Limit is not enough: an order accepting an available price takes liquidity. The Bitvavo vs Bybit comparison helps judge whether that execution difference matters for how often you buy.
When LBank’s ADA/USDT book is useful
For someone holding USDT on LBank, buying ADA directly avoids selling the stablecoin and funding another account. The published spot taker band is 0.10–0.20%; the ADA/USDT rules identify the specific rate. Moving to another exchange adds the USDT transfer cost to the new fill. International Bybit also lists ADA/USDT with a VIP 0 crypto-to-crypto reference of 0.10%, separate from the European book.
Holding ADA on that spot balance does not mean a staking service has been activated. To delegate yourself, compare the amount delivered to Cardano after the withdrawal minimum and charge. Acquiring USDT drops out of the budget only when that balance is already your starting point, not merely because deposits carry no platform fee.
Kraken Flexible versus delegating from a wallet
Kraken lists Cardano under Flexible, not Bonded. This lets you assess a managed service without assigning ADA the lock-up terms of other products. Availability depends on the programme and account. Review reward calculation and the service commission: a provider’s percentage of rewards is not a fee on the full spot purchase. An indicative yield should not be treated as a promise that offsets a more expensive buy.
A compatible Cardano wallet lets you choose a pool and delegate while retaining control of the keys. You do not send the balance to the operator as a deposit. Registration and delegation have their own network costs, while reward timing depends on the protocol and delegation history. This is another use of ADA, not a feature every exchange in the table must offer.
Withdraw over Cardano before comparing programmes
To receive native ADA, check the Cardano network and a valid payment address from the wallet. A staking address starting with stake1 does not replace a receiving address. A wrapped representation on another chain cannot be delegated directly to a Cardano pool either. Check network status and net delivery before confirming a withdrawal.
For buying and holding, compare Bybit EU with immediate or resting orders on Bitvavo. If you use Kraken and prefer managed staking, weigh its complete cost against withdrawing and delegating yourself. With USDT on LBank, start with a direct purchase and its withdrawal. The Cardano buying guide takes that decision through to the order and wallet.
Frequently asked questions
Does buying ADA automatically activate staking?
Not simply by filling a spot order. A managed programme has its own terms; wallet delegation requires using the wallet’s staking function. Review any automatic allocation setting on your account separately.
Can I buy Cardano without first buying USDT?
Yes. ADA/EUR on Bybit EU, Kraken Pro and Bitvavo uses a euro balance. Choose how to fund that balance and compare the specific buying product, rather than the exchange name alone.
Must I keep ADA on an exchange to delegate it?
No. A compatible wallet supports delegation on Cardano under your own keys. You must withdraw ADA on the correct network and manage the wallet, which is different from Kraken’s managed Flexible programme.
