Bybit EU versus Kraken Pro: compare the same purchase type

For European spot orders, Bybit EU’s starting reference is a unified 0.25%. Kraken Pro publishes 0.40% maker and 0.80% taker in its first tier. Bybit has the lower execution fee in that specific comparison, but this does not calculate the whole journey from a bank account to a wallet. The pair, liquidity and funding method also matter.

Do not treat a quick Kraken purchase as the same service as that 0.25% book order. Kraken distinguishes instant buying, custom orders and Pro trading; a simple quote can include spread and payment-method charges. The Bybit review and Kraken review explain their modes. This table uses EEA products and stays editorially identical when read from another country, rather than silently replacing the product with a visitor-specific fee.

A €1,000 example: fees versus execution

On a hypothetical €1,000 notional trade, Bybit EU’s 0.25% equals €2.50 per execution. Kraken Pro’s first tier would charge €4 maker or €8 taker. Buying and selling are two executions, potentially with different notionals. These figures exclude funding, withdrawals and price changes between transactions; they are not a guaranteed total acquisition cost.

A limit order does not guarantee a maker fee: crossing the book can take liquidity. Bybit EU’s cited starting schedule uses one rate, so choosing Limit does not create a maker discount. On Kraken Pro, execution behaviour and the account tier both affect the charge. Read market and limit orders and total acquisition cost before choosing from one percentage. Higher tiers and special pairs require their own like-for-like comparison.

Fund euros and plan the eventual bank withdrawal

Kraken documents SEPA and SEPA Instant deposits without a Kraken fee through the stated channels, with a €1 minimum. Availability and timing depend on the provider. Bybit EU displays the conditions of the selected fiat method in the account. A bank transfer and a card purchase should not be assumed to cost the same, nor should one bank channel be extended to every account.

For outgoing euros, Kraken publishes provider-specific SEPA conditions; the catalogue records a €1 charge and €2 minimum for the relevant channel. Check Bybit’s withdrawal method screen for its conditions. With a small purchase followed by an immediate withdrawal, a fixed charge can matter more than the trading difference. Our deposit and withdrawal guide helps organise that route without counting the same charge twice.

Using Kraken, Pro or the Bybit order book

Kraken separates a simple buying experience from order-focused Pro. That helps distinguish a quick quote from book trading, but requires remembering which fee model is active. Bybit EU provides market and limit orders in its European spot product. For someone comfortable setting a price and amount, the book can be the normal entry point without an instant purchase.

Ease of use depends on the task. Buying once, leaving a limit order and sending to a wallet require different screens. Locate open orders and reserved funds before repeating a transaction. Continue with buying Ethereum with euros for budgeting, fill confirmation and network selection. On mobile, review the full order summary before confirmation and locate how to cancel any unfilled remainder.

Subscriptions and additional products are separate decisions

Kraken+ can cover certain simple-purchase trading fees under its conditions, but does not make Pro orders free. Spread and other charges can remain. Assess a subscription using its price and the purchases you actually expect it to cover. Someone trading only through Pro should not attribute that subscription saving to the order book.

International Bybit documents futures, copying and automation under conditions separate from the European product compared here. Its starting 0.10% crypto-to-crypto spot rate does not replace Bybit EU’s 0.25%. A global feature also does not establish availability in a European account. If you want contracts rather than withdrawable coins, start with spot versus futures, then assess the specific service instead of budgeting derivatives with a spot table.

Crypto withdrawals: the asset and network can settle the choice

A lower trading charge can be outweighed by a more complicated route to your destination. On both platforms, check the asset, enabled network, minimum and net receipt before buying for withdrawal. Kraken’s European asset restrictions include USDT deposits and trading; do not prepare funding on the assumption that its international inventory applies to the EEA product.

For XRP, use the XRP buying and destination-tag guide to check the receiving instructions. For ETH, distinguish Ethereum from other compatible networks even when addresses look similar. An exchange-to-exchange transfer needs compatibility at both ends. The platform holds custody until withdrawal, while a personal wallet makes key and recovery protection your responsibility.

Which fits the purchase you want to make?

For euro spot trading at the starting tier, Bybit EU has a lower execution fee than the cited initial Kraken Pro schedule. Kraken is worth comparing if you prefer its split between simple buying and Pro or its bank and withdrawal channels better suit your route. Neither reason establishes a universal winner for every amount and use.

Before opening or moving an account, reproduce your transaction: starting currency, pair, order type and final destination. Existing higher-tier Kraken users should use their effective fee rather than a new-account reference. Choose for the next purchase you actually intend to make rather than a collection of unused features.

How to make the decision

  1. Define the trade

Buying and withdrawing coins, margined contracts and copying require different products.

  2. Calculate the whole journey

Add opening and closing execution where applicable, funding and moving money; use the rate for your trading mode.

  3. Choose the tools you need

Compare orders, capital controls, API permissions or demo practice according to how you trade.

The decision depends on how you trade.
