Buying crypto
Buying XRP on spot creates a balance of the asset, using euros in XRP/EUR or USDT in XRP/USDT. For withdrawal, check XRP Ledger, the receiving address and any destination tag required by the service.
Buying XRP and sending it solve different problems. First you choose a payment currency and execute an order; then you prepare a transfer the recipient can identify. A correct address may not be enough for an exchange to credit your deposit if its tag is missing. This guide follows both stages, distinguishes XRP from a price contract and explains why a trading fee, withdrawal charge and personal wallet reserve are not interchangeable costs.
Find XRP on spot and check the currency you will spend.
Bybit EU lists XRP/EUR in its European directory alongside XRP/USDC. In XRP/EUR, both the price and budget are expressed in euros. You can therefore buy from a EUR balance without an intermediate stablecoin conversion. Check the European product’s fees at Bybit EU rather than substituting the international exchange schedule.
LBank lists XRP/USDT on spot. USDT is the payment asset in that book, not dollars held in a bank account. An existing stablecoin balance can provide a direct route; when starting with euros, include the process of acquiring and transferring it. The Bybit review and LBank review describe funding and tools. Our low-fee exchange comparison provides more context without making editorial order a calculation of your individual acquisition cost.

XRP is XRP Ledger’s native asset rather than a company share.
A spot purchase gives you an XRP amount to hold, sell or withdraw through a compatible channel. You can buy fractions subject to the market minimum and precision rather than a whole unit. Owning XRP does not give you equity in Ripple or an automatic income entitlement. Identify the symbol and the product instead of relying on a brand mentioned in an advertisement.
An XRP perpetual is a collateralised contract that may have funding charges and liquidation risk. It is not an equivalent method of acquiring XRP for a wallet transfer. For this guide’s route, select Spot without margin. A represented version of XRP on another chain is also different from sending native XRP through XRP Ledger. See spot versus futures before using an interface that offers both products under similar names.
Funding the account comes before purchasing XRP.
On Bybit EU, open EUR deposits and review the available methods. Its documentation includes SEPA under the relevant channel conditions. Check beneficiary details, reference and account-holder requirements before sending, then wait for the credit. Do not budget an instant card purchase using the order-book fee: review the complete quote for that separate service.
For XRP/USDT on LBank, USDT is the starting balance. If transferring it, generate USDT deposit instructions at the receiver and match a network supported by both platforms. Do not use an XRP deposit address for that payment. The currency you spend on the purchase and the network used later to withdraw XRP are independent decisions. Our USDT and USDC guide covers stablecoin preparation, while buying with euros explains the checks shared by bank-funded orders.
Submitting an order does not prove the full budget has become XRP.
Open Spot and select XRP/EUR on Bybit EU or XRP/USDT on LBank. Choose Buy and check whether the field accepts payment currency or units of XRP. A market order seeks immediate execution against available liquidity, but the average price can differ from the last trade shown. For a maximum purchase price per XRP, use a limit order with the intended price and quantity.
That limit can remain open, fill partially or take liquidity if it crosses the book. After confirmation, inspect the history, fee and acquired balance. Decide whether to retain or cancel any unfilled remainder before sending another full-budget order. Record the amount paid and net XRP so you can reconstruct the unit cost without relying on a chart screenshot. Our market and limit order guide shows how these different outcomes work.
Compare the full route rather than the execution percentage alone.
Bybit EU publishes a starting VIP 0 spot rate of 0.25%. LBank documents a 0.1–0.2% spot taker range and shows the effective pair rate in its trading rules. Do not assign a single XRP/USDT fee by selecting an endpoint of that range. Funding, conversion and withdrawal charges must be checked separately for the chosen operation.
Hypothetical example: at €2 per XRP, a €200 order buys 100 XRP gross. A 0.25% fee equals €0.50; if collected in XRP, it would be 0.25 XRP, leaving 99.75 XRP. This is not a current quote and excludes withdrawal. A fee collected in another asset would produce a different balance breakdown. Check the net wallet receipt and minimums as well, particularly for a small transfer. A network reserve is not an extra percentage to add to this trade.
| Component | What it applies to |
|---|---|
| Trading | Spot execution at the account’s effective rate |
| Withdrawal | Exchange-displayed outgoing charge and minimum |
| XRP Ledger transaction | Cost of the network operation |
| Personal account reserve | Balance committed under reserve rules, not a purchase fee |
The tag tells the receiver which customer should receive the credit.
Many exchanges use a shared XRP address and a destination tag to identify each customer. Open the receiver’s XRP deposit page, select XRP Ledger and copy both the address and tag if supplied. Enter each in its corresponding withdrawal field. Do not invent a tag, substitute your user identifier or put the number into an unrelated comment field.
Kraken, for example, requires its generated destination tag for customer XRP deposits. That is a receiving-service instruction, not proof that all wallets require tags. A personal wallet may not use one. An X-address can encode destination information, but use it only where both sending and receiving workflows explicitly support it; do not improvise a conversion. Review the details again at confirmation and retain the receipt. A missing required tag can prevent automatic credit even when the transaction appears on the ledger.
XRP Ledger distinguishes an account balance from the amount available to spend.
For self-custody, use a wallet supporting XRP Ledger and generate the destination there. Select XRP and XRP Ledger among the exchange’s supported withdrawal channels. Check the wallet’s tag instructions, net receipt and the withdrawal minimum. Do not select a represented version on another chain if your goal is native XRP. A small test must also respect the requirements for funding a new account.
XRP Ledger applies reserves to accounts and certain objects. Part of a balance can therefore be committed rather than available for an ordinary payment. This is not a fee the exchange charges for buying XRP. Parameters may change, so review the wallet explanation before sending exactly a presumed minimum. Network transaction costs are also separate from the platform’s outgoing charge. Our custody and wallet guide helps assess whether you want to manage these steps yourself.
A validated transaction and a credited exchange deposit are separate checks.
Save the transaction identifier and inspect the result in a network explorer. If the recipient was an exchange, also check its deposit history. When a credit is missing, compare the address, network, tag and receiving requirements before sending again. A second payment does not repair an earlier missing tag and can duplicate the problem. Our exchange transfer guide helps put those checks in order.
To sell, XRP must be available in the account where you will place the order; the resulting currency can then leave through a supported channel. See selling crypto and withdrawing euros for the bank exit. For other assets, Ethereum requires network and gas choices, while Solana uses SOL for its operations. All three can begin with spot orders, but withdrawal checks remain specific to each network.
Review these points before taking the next step.
Small checks for a more considered decision.
Funds can reach a shared address without being credited to your account.
Follow receiving instructions; a tag is not a universal requirement.
The reserve belongs to XRP Ledger account operation, not spot execution pricing.
Yes. Bybit EU lists XRP/EUR on spot. You need an available EUR balance and should review your account’s effective conditions.
No. It depends on the receiver. Many exchanges require one to identify the customer, so always follow the receiving deposit instructions.
Keep the transaction identifier and receipt and contact the recipient through official support. Do not assume another payment with a different tag repairs the earlier one.
Some balance may be committed to XRP Ledger reserves in addition to transaction costs. Check the available amount and the rules displayed by your wallet.
