Connecting pesos with cryptocurrency
Bitso deserves attention when local Latin American money is your starting or finishing point. For a Mexican reader, buying from a peso bank account and returning through SPEI differs from arriving with USDT already held elsewhere. Convenient funding does not establish the cost of trading the chosen asset.
The platform attributes its trading schedule to Bitso International, while local payments use the relevant countries’ Nvio companies. That distinction clarifies the workflow: funding pesos, executing a purchase and transferring crypto are different actions. A Mexican payment service is not presented as universal authorization for every trading product.
Review product terms and risks before trading.
Trading books have separate quote currencies
The schedule has tiers for MXN, USDT, BTC and other quote currencies, each with its own thirty-day volume base and rates. Buying the same asset does not make every route identical: an MXN purchase and a USDT purchase can require different balances and budgets. An indirect route can add a prior conversion.
Decide what balance you will have and the intended exit. For a peso-in, peso-out workflow, calculate both conversions and bank movements. Existing USDT should use that book’s terms rather than MXN pricing. Our USDT and USDC guide distinguishes stablecoin tokens from bank money.
An MXN example at the starting tier
Below MXN 20,000 of thirty-day volume, MXN-book pricing lists 0.600% maker and 0.780% taker. On a hypothetical MXN 5,000 notional, those percentages mean MXN 30 and MXN 39 per execution. The difference is MXN 9 before execution price or whether an order fills.
Limit orders do not guarantee maker execution if they remove existing liquidity, and a resting order is not a completed purchase. Our orders guide explains the distinction. Compare the entire peso-funded route rather than a crypto-to-crypto rate that assumes the stablecoin has already been acquired.
The calendar also lists 0.100% maker and 0.130% taker above MXN 150 million. Those are high-volume rates, not an ordinary small account’s entry pricing. Thirty-day trading volume is different from account balance or a bank transfer amount.
| Product or movement | Published terms |
|---|---|
| Initial MXN | 0.600% maker / 0.780% taker; volume <MXN 20,000 |
| Initial USDT | 0.300% / 0.360%; volume <1,000 USDT |
| Initial BTC | 0.075% / 0.098%; volume <8 BTC |
| SPEI | Fee-free deposit and withdrawal in consulted entries |
| Perpetuals | 0.05% / 0.05% Bitso + Hyperliquid charge |
USDT and BTC use their own scales
Below 1,000 USDT, that book lists 0.300% maker and 0.360% taker. A hypothetical 500 USDT execution therefore costs 1.50 or 1.80 USDT. The high-tier MXN 0.130% rate cannot price it: quote currency and reference volume both change.
Against BTC, the entry reference below 8 BTC is 0.075% maker and 0.098% taker. Smaller percentages do not settle the choice; obtaining the quote balance and finding the required pair also matter. An additional step creates another cost and price exposure. Compare final assets received for an identical starting outlay using clear units.
SPEI and other Mexican peso movements
Documented MXN rows show free SPEI deposits in under twenty-four hours and free SPEI withdrawals without a timeline in that withdrawal row. Bitso Transfer is listed as instant and free for its described route. A deposit timeline is not automatically a withdrawal promise.
Peso withdrawal rows also include debit-card and mobile-number routes without a charge. Those labels do not describe a trading card or establish identical functions in every country’s account. Identify the actual local-payment operation and the provider’s requirements.
Nvio Pagos México provides the documented Mexican peso payment service. Record what arrives as a usable balance and what subsequently enters an order. Our funding guide separates payments, buying and selling without counting a component twice.
PIX, COELSA and Colombian bank transfers
BRL PIX rows list free deposits within one minute and free withdrawals. ARS COELSA rows list instant free funding and withdrawals. These terms belong to their currencies and methods, rather than promising immediate international transfers between arbitrary banks or currencies.
COP bank deposits list no charge and under twenty-four hours. Withdrawals list no charge and under forty-eight hours, with the note specifying business hours. That distinction matters if you need money during a weekend. Sold platform balance and a completed bank transfer are different states.
Compare each local method as a complete workflow: received currency, intended trade and required exit. Brazilian, Argentine and Colombian payment companies are not merged with the Mexican company or the trading calendar. A route’s usefulness depends on the need it solves rather than the count of supported local currencies.
Asset and network determine crypto withdrawal costs
Consulted crypto deposit rows list no fee and a confirmation requirement. Withdrawals have asset-and-network-specific fixed amounts. The reading lists 0.00001543 BTC on Bitcoin and fee-free BTC Lightning. Sharing the Bitcoin name does not make the methods interchangeable; the recipient must support the route selected.
The table also lists 3.3 USDT on Tron. On a hypothetical 100 USDT transfer, that charge is 3.3% of the reference amount and may outweigh trading costs. Withdrawal pricing is neither the spot fee nor a universal cost for every network.
Check destination, network and receiving method before confirmation. Our USDT networks guide and exchange transfer guide distinguish on-chain, Lightning and internal movements. Review the current charge because a recorded reading is not a permanent tariff guarantee.
Bitso’s 0.05% is not the entire perpetual execution cost
The perpetual section lists Bitso’s own 0.05% maker and taker charge. It also says Hyperliquid adds a separate trading charge visible on the order form. Total execution therefore should not be reduced to an unqualified 0.05%. Observe both components when preparing the trade.
On a hypothetical 2,000 USDT notional, Bitso’s component is 1 USDT per execution, plus the other displayed component. This neither calculates margin requirements nor forecasts losses. Our spot and futures guide separates notional and balance and explains why ordinary buying and holding does not require perpetuals.
What the trust information describes
Bitso’s trust page describes segregated custody, monthly third-party proof of solvency and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 certification. These are provider statements, not an absolute balance guarantee or a recommendation based on personal testing. Asset prices and rewards can change even when an account operates as expected.
Arrange access and recovery before keeping operational funds and retain payment and transfer records. A personal wallet adds its own withdrawal and compatibility considerations. Our custody guide compares those responsibilities; the account security guide develops access protections.
Compare local funding with Kraken, Binance and Bybit
Kraken offers another documented Mexican SPEI route with MXN/USD conversion. Compare the resulting balance and later trade rather than treating every SPEI deposit as the same final currency. Binance and Bybit provide other international products and routes, keeping P2P quotes separate from order-book fees.
Our Bybit vs Binance comparison examines subsequent use of the balance. Bitso may stand out for local movements, but quote currency and exit still matter. Work through funding, buying, holding and withdrawal using consistent units in each alternative.
Who may find it suitable?
Bitso connects crypto buying with Latin American local payment routes. Its books have different rates by quote currency; SPEI, transfers and perpetuals need to be compared as separate stages or products.
Our review of Bitso
Bitso is especially relevant for comparing local-currency funding and cash-outs rather than execution alone. SPEI can matter for a Mexican workflow, but compare each trading book by currency and tier. Existing stablecoin holders and perpetual traders need their specific costs rather than choosing solely for local-payment convenience.

Read guideFrequently asked questions
Are MXN and USDT rates identical?
No. Initial MXN pricing is 0.600%/0.780%, while USDT below 1,000 lists 0.300%/0.360%. Each book has its own base and tiers.
Does free SPEI withdrawal have the deposit timeline?
That is not assumed. Deposits list under twenty-four hours; the consulted fee-free withdrawal row does not fix a timeline.
Do perpetuals only cost 0.05%?
That is Bitso’s component. The page adds a Hyperliquid charge displayed when preparing the order.
Is Lightning the same as every BTC withdrawal?
No. The schedule separates Lightning and Bitcoin network with different costs. The destination must support the chosen route.
