How to buy Solana (SOL)

You can buy SOL with euros in SOL/EUR or use USDT in SOL/USDT. After execution, decide whether to keep it for trading or withdraw native SOL to a Solana wallet.

What to check first

Solana supports transfers and applications that use SOL for network operations. Buying the asset on an exchange does not automatically connect a wallet or activate staking. This guide connects the choices you actually need to make: payment currency, spot market, order type and custody destination. It also explains what changes when you withdraw and why SOL should not be confused with a staking token or a representation on another chain.

1. Where to buy SOL with euros or USDT

Spot markets let you acquire the asset without opening a futures position.

Bybit EU includes SOL/EUR in its spot directory. EUR is the payment currency and SOL is the asset received, creating a direct route from a euro balance. SOL/USDC is also listed, but you do not need that stablecoin to use SOL/EUR. The European product retains its own conditions rather than borrowing the international Bybit schedule.

LBank offers SOL/USDT for traders using a USDT balance. When starting from money in a bank account, include the earlier cost of acquiring and transferring USDT. The Bybit review and LBank review explain funding and tools. Our beginner exchange comparison adds context: choose around your starting balance and intended use rather than the first advertised fee percentage. A listed market is a product reference, not a promise that every account has the same funding methods.

2. Native SOL, staking tokens and Solana contracts

Not every product with Solana in its name is a spot SOL balance.

SOL is Solana’s native asset and is used to pay for network operations. A spot purchase gives you an amount that can later be sold or withdrawn through supported channels. Liquid staking tokens represent a different position with their own mechanics; they are not automatic substitutes for SOL when your immediate goal is a first transfer or a network payment.

SOL futures and perpetuals provide price exposure through contracts. Their collateral and possible liquidations do not belong to an unleveraged spot purchase. Similar price charts do not make the two screens equivalent. An exchange account is also different from a wallet connected to an application: you can buy and retain SOL in custody without using a Solana application at all. Read spot versus futures if the product currently open in your account is unclear.

3. Fund the account before buying Solana

A credited payment balance removes guesswork from the order form.

For SOL/EUR, open Bybit EU’s EUR deposit flow and use a method available to your account. Check the instructions, reference and charges. Its documentation includes SEPA, while the actual channel and requirements should be checked in your own account. Wait for the balance to become available. An instant card purchase can use a different quote and cost structure from a book order.

For SOL/USDT on LBank, verify the USDT balance before placing the trade. A transfer from another exchange must use the USDT deposit address and network, not the SOL instructions. The network used for incoming funds may have nothing to do with the later Solana withdrawal. See buying USDT and USDC for that earlier step and deposits and withdrawals to separate channel costs from execution costs.

4. Buy SOL without mixing up price and quantity

The symbol, quote currency and order type must match your intended purchase.

Open Spot, select SOL/EUR or SOL/USDT and choose Buy. Check whether the field takes money to spend or units of SOL: changing fields can change the order total. A market order seeks execution against available liquidity, while a limit order sets your maximum price per SOL. If the market never reaches that limit, you have not bought yet even though some money is reserved.

After execution, inspect the average price, amount and actual fee. A purchase can consist of several fills and an unfilled remainder. The latest chart price is not necessarily your order average. Before changing plans, review open orders: entering the full budget again can create a second purchase. Our order guide develops these scenarios without requiring advanced tools or leverage. The useful check is the filled quantity, not simply an order-submitted message.

5. SOL purchase costs and a withdrawal budget

A spot rate does not necessarily include funding or transfer costs.

Bybit EU publishes a starting VIP 0 spot rate of 0.25%. LBank documents a 0.1–0.2% spot taker range, with the effective pair rate available in its trading rules. Do not treat one end of that range as a confirmed charge for every SOL purchase. Spread, conversions and withdrawal charges can also change the least expensive route for your amount.

Hypothetical example: at €100 per SOL, a €250 order represents 2.5 SOL gross. A 0.25% fee equals €0.625; if taken in the acquired asset, it would be 0.00625 SOL, leaving 2.49375 SOL. A withdrawal would separately reduce the wallet receipt. The price is illustrative rather than current. For a small purchase, a fixed withdrawal charge may matter more than a small difference between trading percentages. Allow for it before spending the entire budget. The total cost guide combines those charges in one budget.

6. Withdraw SOL through the Solana network

The destination should receive native SOL on the network you select.

Open Receive SOL on Solana in your wallet and copy the address from that screen. Next, select Withdraw SOL on the exchange and choose Solana if enabled. Check the full address, minimum and net receipt. A representation of SOL on another chain does not arrive as native SOL on Solana and may require further steps before it can be used there.

Do not use a token identifier or an address supplied in a message as the destination. For another exchange, generate fresh SOL deposit instructions and follow its current requirements. A small test must exceed both services’ minimums; otherwise it cannot validate the route. Save the transaction identifier and check the final credit. A fast network does not eliminate the time a platform needs to process a withdrawal or credit a deposit.

7. Use a Solana wallet after the purchase

Receiving SOL and authorising an application are separate actions.

A compatible wallet can receive SOL and sign transactions. You do not need to connect an application simply to hold the balance. Protect recovery information away from messages and email, and verify an application’s origin before installation. With a hardware device, compare the address on its screen where the workflow supports it. A successful withdrawal to your personal wallet changes who controls the keys to those coins.

Solana operations pay fees in SOL and may include a priority component as well as a base charge. Keep some available if you plan to transfer tokens or interact with applications instead of assuming a fixed euro cost. An exchange withdrawal charge is not a universal price for all later transactions. See account protection for access controls and custody and wallets for deciding how to split holdings between uses.

8. Hold, sell or explore the ecosystem

Choose the next step around the reason you bought SOL.

If the goal was holding the asset, save the purchase record and review custody. If you want euros back, selling SOL in a EUR market and withdrawing money to a bank are separate operations. Coins held in a wallet first need a supported deposit route to the selling platform. Our selling and euro withdrawal guide follows that exit path.

Before using applications, understand what each signature permits and which balance is being committed. Buying SOL does not guarantee yield, activate copy trading or require a protocol deposit. When comparing native networks for a first purchase, Ethereum and its transfer costs illustrates another workflow; XRP and destination tags explains a different sending check. Record amounts and movements without mistaking a transfer between your own accounts for a new acquisition.

Final checklist

Review these points before taking the next step.

  • SOL/EUR or SOL/USDT identified as spot.
  • Payment currency available and funding charge reviewed.
  • Purchased amount checked against fills.
  • Native SOL and Solana selected for the wallet.
  • Withdrawal address, minimum and net receipt checked.
  • Some SOL available for later transaction fees.

Common mistakes

Small checks for a more considered decision.

Buying a staking token accidentally

A representative asset is not native SOL ready for the same immediate use.

Reusing the USDT funding network for SOL

Each asset and receiving destination has its own supported channels.

Assuming speed proves receipt

Check both the transaction and the receiving platform credit.

FAQs

Can I buy SOL directly with euros?

Yes. Bybit EU lists SOL/EUR. Use a EUR balance and review your account’s funding and execution conditions.

Do I need a wallet to buy Solana?

Not for a spot purchase held by an exchange. A compatible destination is needed if you later withdraw SOL to a personal wallet.

Does buying SOL activate staking?

No. Buying, withdrawing and staking are separate decisions, each with its own steps and conditions.

Is the withdrawal fee the Solana network fee?

Not necessarily. The exchange displays its outgoing charge, while subsequent wallet operations pay their applicable network fees.
