What to check first

Convert exchanges the assets shown in its selector without constructing a conventional spot order. Choose between accepting a quote now and waiting for a limit rate, while checking which account supplies and receives the balance.

1. Find Convert and select the right balance

First check which account holds the assets and how much is available.

On Bybit EU’s website, open Buy Crypto → Convert, or enter from Funding or the Unified Trading Account, known as UTA. Choose the source account deliberately: total portfolio value can include assets unavailable for conversion. A pending order or committed balance does not automatically become usable by selecting All.

Find both assets in Convert’s dropdowns and read the minimum and maximum for that combination. A spot listing does not guarantee the same Convert combination, and an international-product list does not establish EU availability. If you want to trade on an order book, the separate Bybit spot tutorial covers that workflow.

2. Request and confirm an instant conversion

Instant uses the quote presented before confirmation.

  • Choose Instant and the account supplying the balance.
  • Select the asset you give up and the asset you want.
  • Enter an amount, or use All only when you intend to commit the available balance.
  • Request Get a Quote, compare supplied and received amounts and confirm if the rate is acceptable.

Quotes refresh periodically; help specifies a 15-second update. If the rate changes while you review it, reread the received amount before the final step. A screenshot of the first quote does not lock a later one. Extreme volatility can prevent execution, so verify the outcome before submitting an identical conversion again.

3. Use Limit without mistaking waiting for execution

A limit conversion requires Funding and does not deliver the asset when placed.

Choose Limit, assets and amount, enter the desired rate and review the summary before placing and confirming the order. This mode uses Funding, so first make the appropriate internal transfer if assets are held elsewhere. It remains pending until the quote meets the condition; you cannot determine in advance when that will happen.

Instant versus Limit
AspectDifference
PriceInstant accepts a quote; Limit specifies a target rate.
AccountLimit uses Funding only.
BalancePending Limit orders lock the committed assets.
DurationLimit lasts 30 days and cancels if unfilled.

To release committed funds, find the unfilled order under Active orders and cancel it. Do not create another instruction assuming the same funds remain freely usable. Expiry is not a completed conversion: compare status and resulting balances. If the purpose is funding a euro withdrawal, first establish whether EUR was actually delivered.

4. Compare the quote with spot pricing

The chart is a market reference; Convert’s output is read from its quote.

Convert’s rate comes from quotes and may differ from spot. Its chart uses spot candle data and does not necessarily show the executable Convert rate. Do not calculate output by multiplying your quantity by the last chart price. A meaningful comparison supplies the same asset and measures net assets received through each route.

Hypothetical example without live prices: a quote delivers 97 units of B for 100 units of A. A spot alternative would deliver 98 B before a hypothetical 0.25% fee, equivalent to 0.245 B, leaving 97.755 B. The difference is 0.755 B. This compares net outcomes; it does not assign that fee to Convert or establish spot as always better. Also review any additional charge shown for your account.

5. Check where the converted asset is credited

The account selected affects receipt and can matter for subsequent transactions.

For Instant, a Funding conversion credits Funding, while a UTA conversion credits UTA. When both accounts supply funds, documentation specifies receipt in Funding. Check the destination balance instead of searching only the starting screen. Conversion is not an on-chain transfer and does not require a TXID search for its internal movement.

With cross margin in UTA, changing asset composition can affect collateral and the liquidation price of existing positions. Review that relationship before selecting All. For a bank payment, confirm the offered combination actually delivers EUR and then follow Bybit EU bank withdrawal; a euro valuation of USDC is not a substitute for euros.

6. Review Conversion History and resolve issues

History distinguishes a request, a pending order and a completed exchange.

Open Conversion History on Convert and locate supplied asset, received asset, amount, time and status. If you expected an instant transaction but balances did not change, inspect history before confirming another quote. For Limit, inspect Active orders: waiting may be the intended behaviour rather than a balance error.

An amount outside permitted bounds requires adjusting the quantity or checking the available combination, not assuming every asset supports unlimited fractional conversion. If an asset is missing, do not reuse another product’s instructions. Bybit EU Recurring Buy serves a different purpose: repeated purchases rather than a one-off balance exchange.

Before converting coins received externally, check the Bybit EU deposit and where it was credited.

Final checklist

Review these points before taking the next step.

  • Combination shown in Convert.
  • Amount within bounds.
  • Source account checked.
  • Quote reviewed again.
  • Limit balance lock understood.
  • Receipt reconciled with history.

Common mistakes

Small checks for a more considered decision.

Using the chart price

The Convert quote determines receipt.

Forgetting Funding

Limit is not placed from any account.

Repeating without checking

Inspect history and active orders before repeating.

FAQs

Does Convert have the same price as spot?

Not necessarily. Convert quotes may differ from spot and the chart is a reference. Compare net output.

How long does a Limit last?

Documentation specifies 30 days. Assets remain locked until execution, cancellation or expiry.

Why can I not convert everything?

Only available balances from selected accounts are used, and combinations have minimum and maximum amounts.

Does Convert buy periodically?

It is a different workflow from Recurring Buy. Here you confirm an instant exchange or a limit instruction.
