Best exchanges to buy XRP

For a bank-funded XRP purchase, compare Bybit EU’s euro book with Kraken Pro and Bitvavo. If you already hold USDT, LBank offers a direct trade. Before choosing on price, work out whether you are sending to your own wallet or a shared account that needs a destination tag.

How we build this selection

This selection compares where to obtain spot XRP and deliver it to the destination, rather than repeating the buying steps.

Bybit has the first card through our commercial partnership and its direct markets. The final choice depends on funding, execution and receipt.

Methodology →Transparency →
  • Starting balance

A EUR market avoids acquiring a stablecoin; XRP/USDT uses a funded balance.

  • Comparable order

Separate maker, taker and simple quotes for the same purchase budget.

  • Transfer destination

Address and tag must match the details supplied by the receiving account.

  • Usable amount

Consider the minimum, withdrawal charge and any reserve needed for a new personal wallet.

Choose for a personal wallet or another exchange account

If you will keep XRP on the exchange, you can start by comparing books. If you intend to send it immediately, the question is how much XRP the recipient will accept and credit. A shared deposit address identifies the provider, not necessarily your individual account within it. A destination tag enables that allocation when the recipient uses one. A cheap route is of limited use if you have not prepared the receiving details before buying.

With euros: an immediate purchase versus a resting order

Bybit EU, Kraken Pro and Bitvavo offer XRP/EUR. On a €1,000 notional fill, Bybit EU’s starting 0.25% rate is equivalent to €2.50, as is Bitvavo’s entry taker fee. Pro Tier 1 taker at 0.80% is €8. These are execution examples, not XRP quotes, and exclude withdrawal. The number of coins received also depends on the sellers available for your order size, rather than the price of the last trade alone.

If the purchase can wait, Bitvavo’s starting maker rate is lower when you add liquidity: €1.50 for that notional. Kraken Pro would charge €4. A limit order that fills against an existing offer can still pay taker fees. Bybit vs Kraken compares a unified rate with a schedule that distinguishes both sides of the book.

LBank and international Bybit for a USDT balance

With USDT already held on LBank, XRP/USDT avoids a conversion to euros. Compare the XRP available there with what would remain after transferring USDT to another book and buying on arrival. LBank publishes a 0.10–0.20% spot taker band: use the pair’s actual rate to finish the calculation. International Bybit has its own XRP/USDT book and a 0.10% VIP 0 crypto-to-crypto reference, separate from Bybit EU.

On a 500 USDT fill, that band represents 0.50 to 1 USDT of trading fees. An additional transfer solely to save that difference can cost more than trading on the funded account. The LBank and Bybit comparison looks at the rest of the workflow without confusing spot with a contract on XRP.

The recipient determines the tag requirement

Kraken documents a generated tag for XRP deposits. To send a purchase from another exchange to Kraken, copy both the address and that tag from your receiving account. Do not reuse a tag from a previous transfer to another provider. A personal wallet may not need one; do not invent a number to complete a form. XRP Ledger also supports X-addresses, but that format is useful only when both ends support it.

When creating an XRP Ledger account, distinguish its reserve from a network fee. The reserve is not a trading charge or exchange discount: some balance is required to maintain the account under the ledger’s rules. For a small purchase destined entirely for withdrawal, calculate the usable amount after the withdrawal charge and any applicable reserve.

Match the exchange to your next XRP transfer

For a euro-funded purchase, start with the net XRP offered by Bybit EU and Bitvavo for the same budget. If you use Kraken already, compare Pro without applying its rates to simple buying. For USDT on LBank, weigh a direct trade against moving the balance. In every case, prepare the destination and its tag before withdrawing. The XRP buying guide covers the order, receipt and transfer checks.

Frequently asked questions

Does an exchange need a tag to sell me XRP?

A spot purchase credits XRP inside the account without an external tag. Tags matter when depositing or withdrawing over XRP Ledger, according to the recipient’s requirements.

How do XRP/EUR and XRP/USDT fees differ?

They can belong to different products and schedules. Bybit EU lists an entry spot rate of 0.25%, while international Bybit lists 0.10% for VIP 0 crypto pairs. Include the cost of acquiring EUR or USDT before comparing.

Where can I receive native XRP after buying?

At an XRP Ledger address compatible with the platform’s withdrawal. A representation of XRP on another chain is not the same deposit. Match the network, address and tag to the receiving screen.
