How to buy Chainlink (LINK)

Bybit EU’s LINK/EUR and LBank’s LINK/USDT provide two spot routes. For a wallet transfer, identify the LINK representation and network: owning LINK does not replace the ETH required on Ethereum.

What to check first

Chainlink provides services for blockchain applications; purchasing LINK delivers the token rather than an account automatically earning oracle revenue. This guide separates acquisition, fees and wallet delivery. Compatibility is central: LINK exists on multiple networks with different contracts, and the recipient must support the withdrawn representation.

1. Buy LINK using EUR or USDT

Choose the pair for your balance, not just the token name.

Bybit EU lists LINK/EUR. An account funded in euros can use that book without first acquiring USDT. Compare execution with any simple-buy alternative shown by the platform; an instant quote can have different costs. This guide uses European spot and its schedule rather than importing global Bybit fees.

LBank provides LINK/USDT for the international workflow. Although the interface may display margin options, borrowing is not needed for a spot purchase. The LBank review covers its tools and the Bybit review distinguishes products. Bybit vs Kraken helps compare other euro-buying workflows.

2. Fund the account before buying Chainlink

EUR and USDT fund different routes to the asset.

For LINK/EUR, complete a supported EUR deposit and verify the credited amount. If LINK is already held elsewhere and the objective is moving it, selling and repurchasing are not automatically required; compare a compatible transfer first. Avoiding an unnecessary conversion can matter more than a small spot-rate difference.

For LINK/USDT, deposit USDT or obtain it through a supported method. Generate a receiving route supported at both ends, separately from LINK’s later network. If starting with USDC, inspect the required conversion before transferring. USDT and USDC and exchange transfers explain balance preparation.

3. Steps to acquire LINK spot

The order should deliver available LINK rather than a contract.

  • Find LINK/EUR on Bybit EU or LINK/USDT on LBank within Spot.
  • Check Buy, payment currency and spendable balance.
  • Set the amount and choose market pricing or a limit cap.
  • Review fee and estimated quantity; confirm without enabling margin.
  • Inspect fills and cancel any remainder you no longer want.

For a small amount, a market order avoids waiting for a specified price but accepts available book conditions. A limit caps price rather than guaranteeing a purchase. A partial fill can leave the remainder open and reserve EUR or USDT. The market/limit guide explains execution; spot and futures distinguishes a contract from withdrawable coins.

4. LINK fees and a EUR 150 example

Separate trading fees from moving LINK out.

Bybit EU’s entry table shows 0.25% for spot before other applicable account tiers. LBank provides pair maker/taker details in Trading Rules. Futures or another market’s rate does not establish LINK/USDT pricing. Card purchases and currency conversion add their own costs before net coins can be compared.

Hypothetical example: at EUR 15 per LINK, a EUR 150 fill produces 10 gross LINK. A 0.25% fee charged in the purchased asset subtracts 0.025 LINK, leaving 9.975. This is not a current price. A subsequent withdrawal charge is separate. Holding LINK on Ethereum also requires ETH for later transfers; paying the exchange fee does not automatically fund that gas.

5. LINK on Ethereum and other supported networks

Network and contract are part of the token’s identity.

On Ethereum mainnet, Chainlink identifies LINK as contract 0x514910771AF9Ca656af840dff83E8264EcF986CA. LINK is not Ethereum’s native gas currency; a wallet needs ETH to send it. Verify that the destination supports this Ethereum LINK rather than another representation with the same ticker. A 0x address shared across networks does not convert tokens between them.

Chainlink documents separate contracts by chain. Some bridged forms are not equally compatible with its services: on BNB Chain, bridge LINK differs from the ERC-677 form used by certain services. For holding, choose a route you can receive and later return; for an application, verify its supported contract. BNB and ETH explain gas currencies for those workflows.

6. Withdraw LINK without choosing solely by the fee

A cheap exit is unhelpful if the destination does not recognise it.

In on-chain withdrawal, select LINK and inspect networks enabled for the actual product. Obtain the destination on the selected network and compare contract or representation where relevant. Check minimum, charge and net receipt there: LINK/EUR or LINK/USDT listing does not establish open withdrawal networks. There is no assumed fixed charge across chains.

After confirmation, retain hash and network. If the balance is absent, inspect the transaction and token display before repeating. For another CEX, obtain its LINK deposit route and choose a shared network; do not blindly copy an address previously used for ETH. Custody and wallets helps decide who controls keys and recovery.

7. Choose an exit you can use afterwards

Complete the workflow with the next step in mind.

Before choosing the cheapest network in the menu, define the next operation. Holding LINK and returning it to an exchange need not follow the same route as using it to pay for a service in an application. Check both directions: wallet support now and an accepted deposit route when selling later. A smaller exit charge is less useful if returning requires an unbudgeted bridge or conversion. Evaluate the complete trip rather than treating the first withdrawal as the only expense.

If a wallet requests approval for an application, distinguish spending permission from a simple transfer to another address. Buying LINK on a CEX does not automatically authorise later contracts to spend it. Review network, asset and amount before signing; a recovery phrase is not needed on a webpage merely to display a token. Contract identity also helps establish which balance an application is using. Recognising that before funding avoids acquiring a representation that cannot perform the intended task.

8. Hold LINK, use it or sell it again

Purchasing does not enrol you in services or rewards.

Buying LINK is not operating a node, providing a Chainlink service or automatically collecting revenue. For an application, verify network, contract and required balance before withdrawing. For spot exposure, record cost and net quantity without assuming staking or another programme’s yield.

For a euro exit, distinguish the selling pair from the later banking method. Reversing LINK/USDT delivers stablecoins rather than EUR. The euro-withdrawal guide covers the final steps. Ethereum platform selection illustrates funding and exit comparison, while LINK-specific pairs and charges still determine this purchase.

Final checklist

Review these points before taking the next step.

  • LINK and quote currency checked.
  • Spot purchase without unintended margin.
  • Network and contract supported by the recipient.
  • Withdrawal charge and net amount reviewed.
  • ETH available for using LINK on Ethereum.

Common mistakes

Small checks for a more considered decision.

Treating LINK as Ethereum gas

Retain ETH to send or use the token.

Choosing any representation

The application may require a specific contract.

Confusing the token and an oracle service

Buying does not activate income or an operator role.

FAQs

Can LINK be bought directly with EUR?

Bybit EU lists LINK/EUR spot. Check available EUR and account terms before trading.

Does LINK pay Ethereum gas?

No. Moving LINK from an Ethereum wallet requires ETH for gas.

Is LINK across networks directly interchangeable?

No. Contracts and representations differ by network; destination and application must support the selected form.

Does buying LINK generate oracle revenue?

Not automatically. Token ownership does not make you a service provider or activate a rewards programme.
