For buying from a euro bank account, funding matters as much as the book used for execution. Bybit EU, Bitvavo and OKX Europe offer three routes to compare; Kraken adds an alternative with several providers. A fee-free deposit does not make the subsequent purchase free.
Compare by goalUpdated
Find your exchange
Compare products, costs and ways to move your funds.
Use the account’s exact SEPA route and charge, not another region’s offer.
Usable receipt
Distinguish a sent transfer, credited cash and funds ready to trade.
Subsequent execution
Compare EUR books and equivalent ordinary tiers.
Exit route
Add selling, bank withdrawal or network charges if that is the destination.
Choose an exchange for bank-funded buying
A SEPA transfer delivers euros, not bitcoin or a stablecoin. Choosing involves two decisions: where to fund and where to buy once cash is available. Bybit EU and Bitvavo share an entry 0.25% taker reference for the spot products compared here, while Bitvavo also has a 0.15% entry maker rate. OKX Europe adds a third bank-funded route with its own schedule. If you already use Kraken, compare its providers and Pro before opening another account solely to move a small amount.
The euro bitcoin buying guide covers the steps. This ranking comes earlier: choosing a platform by bank funding and execution without repeating that tutorial. For execution prices alone, the low-fee ranking answers a different question.
Compare before choosing
Bybit EU: fund euros and choose the book
Bybit EU documents SEPA in selected EU countries and may assign different providers. Funding may require a virtual account and reference. Use details generated for your account rather than an old transfer to a different provider. Bybit EU’s own deposit fee is zero, but the processor may charge for its service; that distinction prevents treating every funding transaction as free without checking the screen.
With credited cash, consider a EUR book such as BTC/EUR or USDC/EUR. Entry spot at 0.25% is not a One-Click quote. This separation explains why you might fund first: you choose price and order type instead of necessarily taking a quick-buy quote. The Bybit review separates the European and international products; European SEPA support is not extended to the latter.
Bitvavo: separate funding and order costs
Bitvavo lists SEPA deposits with no platform charge. On an ordinary EUR book, the later fee depends on maker or taker execution and thirty-day volume. A hypothetical €1,000 entry-tier fill would generate €1.50 maker or €2.50 taker trading fees. Those figures exclude the bid–ask gap, market movement and withdrawals: they are not guaranteed final prices for the same purchase.
The pair matters too. USDC/EUR does not necessarily use the schedule for an ordinary asset against EUR. If that is your goal, the USDT and USDC platform ranking compares the specific category. Avoid converting twice merely because a landing screen emphasises a different balance.
OKX Europe and Kraken: provider and product matter
OKX Europe documents standard and instant SEPA for EEA clients. Instant receipt also depends on the bank; it does not promise an instantly executed purchase. The ordinary account without X-Perps has its own trading reference, separate from an account already using that product. There is no need to open a derivative to evaluate a spot purchase. Bybit vs OKX compares the modes with separate costs.
Kraken lists several SEPA routes with a €1 minimum and fee-free options, subject to provider and account. Timing ranges from instant to several business days. Its Pro price must not be transferred to simple buying. If an account is already funded, calculating the cost of buying there can be more useful than chasing a smaller rate elsewhere.
Choose with the exit in mind
For crypto kept on an exchange, focus on execution and custody. For a wallet withdrawal, add network, minimum and charge. For returning to a bank, also consider selling and EUR withdrawal. The selling and euro withdrawal guide covers the reverse route. Free funding does not imply free exit.
Before transferring, match account owner, currency and reference to the current instructions. A missing reference can delay receipt even when the bank confirms sending. Compare Bybit EU for a euro-funded book, Bitvavo for its funding and maker/taker schedule, and OKX if you already use its European account. The funding guide brings together the practical checks without choosing solely on the most optimistic timing.
Frequently asked questions
Does free SEPA funding mean a fee-free purchase?
No. Funding credits euros; the later purchase can involve trading fees or a quoted price. Separate your bank’s charges and any later withdrawal too.
Does SEPA Instant guarantee immediate buying?
It depends on the bank, provider and credited balance. A sent transfer and usable cash are different states. A later limit order may remain unfilled.
Does every account of a brand have the same SEPA route?
No. OKX describes its European offering, and Bybit EU limits SEPA to selected EU countries and providers. Use your product and account instructions, not another region’s.
