Buying crypto
Buy DOT spot with USDC on Bybit EU or USDT on international Bybit and LBank. Withdrawal requires more than an address: match the precise Polkadot chain supported by the exchange and wallet.
DOT is Polkadot’s native asset, used in network operations and governance. This follows a spot purchase rather than contracts or staking enrolment. For self-custody, match the withdrawal chain and receiving account: ecosystem chains can represent the same key in related formats without sharing the same balance.
USDC and USDT fund different markets.
Bybit EU lists DOT/USDC. International Bybit’s API shows DOT/USDT trading, and LBank lists dot_usdt among public pairs. These are distinct products rather than a claim that every branded account shares functions. Starting with euros may require obtaining the quote currency first. A quick card purchase must be compared through its preview rather than priced using a spot-order fee.
The Bybit and LBank reviews explain the accounts. The altcoin ranking broadens the choice, while LBank versus Bybit compares balances, tools and exits. Choose the actual market and final destination for DOT; margin or futures is unnecessary when the goal is receiving withdrawable coins.

For platform selection, the DOT exchange ranking compares funding and withdrawal compatibility without mixing Polkadot chains.
Funding has its own cost and network.
For EUR funding, inspect the deposit method and cost of obtaining USDC for the European pair. Existing USDT for an international route needs receiving details generated first. Match the chain at both ends and inspect any stated minimum or confirmations. The chain used to send USDT does not determine the later DOT exit: funding and moving the purchased asset are separate steps.
Buying stablecoins explains quote preparation, and depositing USDT on LBank follows crediting. Inspect spendable funds, reserved amounts and the spot balance before ordering. Do not repeat a transfer merely because funds appear in another account section or an earlier order reserves them. Retain the transfer reference and inspect sender and recipient histories.
Finish by inspecting fills and DOT balance.
A limit caps the accepted price without forcing the book to sell the full quantity. It can partly fill or remain open. Market seeks available offers, with average price depending on execution size. A DOTUSDT derivatives position is not a substitute because contractual exposure does not deliver DOT for withdrawal. Market and limit orders explains the mechanics while keeping the goal focused on acquiring the asset.
Trading fees differ from the network’s minimum balance.
Bybit EU’s entry spot reference is 0.25%; international VIP 0 crypto spot is 0.10%. Inspect the actual account and product rate. For LBank use DOT/USDT Trading Rules rather than assigning a general range to that pair. Add conversion or sending costs where funding requires them and budget the selected chain’s displayed withdrawal charge.
Hypothetical example: USDC 200 filled at USDC 5 per DOT yields 40 gross DOT. A 0.25% charge in received coins costs 0.10 DOT, leaving 39.90. This is not a live quote. Where the fee uses another currency, follow the actual preview instead of deducting it from DOT again. The receiving account’s minimum balance is also separate from this purchase fee.
| Item | How to check |
|---|---|
| Purchase | Product, notional and fee |
| Exit | Current chain, minimum and charge |
| Account | Minimum balance for that chain |
| Later use | Fee and available funds |
A shared key does not establish a shared balance.
The ecosystem distinguishes Polkadot Hub, formerly Asset Hub, from other chains with separate functions and balances. A wallet-generated address does not establish that an exchange delivers DOT on any of them. Read the exact withdrawal-network description and select that account at the recipient. A generic label requires checking the provider’s explanation; matching address format alone is not evidence of cross-chain compatibility.
Account-existence minima and treatment of residual funds depend on the chain. An old Relay Chain minimum is not universal across DOT accounts. Inspect the current wallet requirement and retain what is needed to keep the account active. Moving between chains requires its own supported workflow rather than happening automatically because a familiar address was copied.
Set the destination before amount and confirmation.
Choose Receive DOT in a compatible wallet and copy its details. On the exchange select DOT, the matching supported network and amount. Review the full address, withdrawal minimum, charge and net receipt, including additional fields required by the recipient. A test must also respect the destination account minimum. An excessively small transfer may fail to test a new account meaningfully.
Save the transaction ID and inspect the correct chain in both explorer and wallet. If the balance is absent, check chain and transaction status before purchasing again. Wallet withdrawals and transfers explain tracking and compatibility. Exchange withdrawal and a subsequent cross-chain move are different operations that can carry separate costs.
Distinguish custody, delegation and locked funds.
Holding DOT spot is not choosing validators, joining a nomination pool or subscribing to a custodial service. Each has participation terms, charges and exit rules. Before subsequent staking, inspect the starting chain and balance, when funds can move and how small rewards are handled. The staking ranking separates modes; buying Cardano covers another architecture without transferring its rules to Polkadot.
For a new account, call the planned DOT amount Q, the withdrawal charge W and that chain’s required minimum R. Establish whether the entered amount already represents receipt or whether the provider subtracts W; do not deduct it twice. Then consider R and the next transaction’s fee when calculating what can actually be used. These letters do not assign any fixed fee or minimum: obtain the values from the exchange and wallet. This explains why a test suitable for an existing account can be insufficient for a new one. If the result leaves no usable margin, adjust the amount before sending rather than assuming a successful exchange withdrawal guarantees a fully spendable wallet balance.
Buying, custody and use are successive decisions.
Keep a record of spending, net DOT and the chosen chain. For another purchase, avoid obtaining more stablecoins when sufficient unreserved funds already exist. Spot trading helps select tools; buying Solana and buying Ethereum compare other native-coin workflows. Their usefulness is understanding receipt and custody rather than assuming comparable returns.
Review these points before taking the next step.
Small checks for a more considered decision.
Identify the chain as well as the address.
Check receipt and withdrawal minima.
Select any subsequent service separately.
The displayed European pair is DOT/USDC; obtaining USDC may add a step. It differs from a quoted EUR purchase.
No; confirm the withdrawal chain and the recipient’s Polkadot ecosystem account.
Exchange, withdrawal and account-existence minima are separate and depend on the route.
No; spot buying and any subsequent participation are separate operations.
